Open House

Ben had open house tonight at school!

He showed me his classroom and all of his art projects.  He has been doing well and the teacher and I had a chance to talk for a minute.  Buddy met us there to meet the teacher and see his classroom, Ben was so happy and proud!

We had a chance to get ready for next week and I got a chance to ask the teacher to remind Ben, there is no school on Friday.

Randonness

First, is randonness even a word?  I don't think so, yet that is exactly what this is.  Completely random happenings from the past 2 weeks.

1. Ben got another Chick Fil A pass because he memorized another Bible verse.  Sept 17th's Bible verse was, "Everybody who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" Romans 10:13.  He is sooo cute saying it.

2. We hit another milestone and Ben now wears size HUGE underwear! He is very proud of this fact.

3. He has decided he wants to adopt Billie the dog, and has asked for everybody to pray for this.  He wants a dog very badly, but right now we do not have the time to devote to a dog, which means it would be unfair to bring an animal to our house.  He knows this but it's hard to understand at 4 years old.

4. Ben has been doing good in school and having fun at home with Mommy, Granny and Buddy!

More to come- hopefully some pictures too!

HOMEWORK!

So, I am beginning to feel the joys of the dreaded, H word.  Yes, folks. We had our first homework battle today!
I had no idea what I was going to do.  So, much to my dismay, I ended up doing 95% of the homework while Ben played.  It turned out something like this--------->

The corner that is cut off says, that his pet is a goldfish.  Technically he has 4 tetras, but they don't have fun stickers of tetras.  Only goldfish.

He wants to be a Nurse when he grows up because that way he can spend time with his Granny.  Granny is a nurse too and that way they can ride to work together and drink hot chocolate.

Oh and by the way- I drew that awesome pizza in the corner.  Then Ben water color painted the washable marker.  YAY for being 4 and not quite getting it.  But it's still awesome, because I have mad drawing skills.

I don't know how well you can see it, but I also know how much you LOVE the kick butt picture of me, in which half my hair is in my face.  Ugh, I need to lose weight.

And for the record, he actually owns a Superhero book, actually more like 5 of them.  So he's not lying about the book.  And he traced "Green" all by himself! What a big big boy!

After we finished homework, we went to go see the "Last Airbender".  Which by the way, wasn't that great.  But it was a great waste of an hour and a half.  And it only wasted 4 dollars for 4 tickets! WOOT!

I am amazed at this child- constantly! He is my love, my life and my world!

Uncle Mike's Birthday

Okay so I have not updated this a few days, I'm sorry.  My brother came to town and I tried to spend some time with him.  I also did this thing called- catch up on sleep! HAHA.

Anyway, we celebrated my "baby" brother's 23rd birthday last night.  Here are the pictures.  Please note the Soccer players on his birthday are from his 7th birthday! My mom kept them all these years! What a great mom to keep such random things. My mom was so happy to be able to spend some time with my brother before his birthday, and mostly before he goes back to Chicago for duty.
I was happy for the time that we did get to spend together, however, I too would have liked for it to have been more.  At least, Ben got to see Uncle Mike again too! He had a ton of fun with the time that he did see him.

Hopefully soon, we can make a trip to go see Uncle Mike! We love him so much!

Day 2

Ben got out (okay more like ran out) of the car this morning to go to school! He is LOVING it.  I am happy for him but I cried like a baby when he left me sitting in the car this morning.

He also got mad when I tried to walk in and pick him up from school.  He is such a big boy and doing GREAT!
He cried when I told him the weekend was coming.  Haha.  Who knew kids cried for school and not the weekend?

Hopefully, we get to see Uncle Mike soon!

1st Day of SCHOOL!

Ben had his 1st day of school today.  He did great.  He wanted me to walk him in.  So, I did.  Then I went on to go and cry my tears.  They fell freely in the car.  From there I went to the daycare to take my mind off my baby going to school.

He came home with 2 paper works.  He had done them all by himself! Go Ben! And he got McDonald's as an extra special treat for not crying at school!

Nobody can even imagine how proud I am of my big boy right now in life!

Coke Popsicles

Yep, we ate them today.

Last night we had some extra Coke in the bottle after I told Ben he couldn't have anymore.  So, we decided to make popsicles with them. Which sounds kinda gross and interesting all at the same time.

Ben with his Coke Popsicle
This is what we learned.

They taste pretty good but maybe you should make them with flat coke instead because the carbonation definitely makes you have the biggest, loudest burps EVER!

I also got a chance to talk to Ben's new teacher in school.  She is so sweet.  I cannot wait for Mom and I to go meet her on Friday.  I think Ben is going to have a TON of fun in her class.  He was talking the whole time in the background and she said she loved the way he sounded.  I am glad that she is excited to.  So, my journey a mom of a kid who goes to school starts on Monday and I am SO not ready!

Ben is excited though.  He tells everybody who listens that he is going to be in the Frog class. He is super excited about that because Frogs are my FAVORITE!

We also cleaned up today and guess what?  Ben put all of his toys up by HIMSELF! I was so proud of the little stinker.

Tomorrow we are going to make some of Aunt Beth's pasta salad because Ben is on  HUGE pasta kick right now.  And we made pasta and Chicken for supper tonight and Ben ate a WHOLE chicken breast and two bowls of pasta! He is growing so much! I don't know what I am going to do with him!

Tomorrow after we see the girls, I am going to surprise him and take him to go see his Auntie! He misses her and loves her so much!

Chick-fil-A

MMMMMM......the sweet goodness of Chick-fil-A.  A fried chicken breast on a buttered bun with exactly 2 pickles! Yummy goodness in the tummy! Do not forget the goodness of BBQ sauce to dip that amazing sandwhich in!

Can you tell what we ate for dinner tonight? Betcha can't.  We haven't been out to eat in so long that honestly I was surprised to find, that I really do LOVE Chick-fil-A.  I love it like sweet tea on a warm summer's day.  And that's a whole lot.

Kids love it too, because they make AMAZING chicken nuggets that can be dipped, that are not too crunchy and get this, do not come all in the same shape.  Yeah, folks, it's real chicken.

We had to leave Chick-fil-A though.  Our food was eaten and the kids had played for a good twenty minutes! There were a ton of people there and mostly, we earned Jules points for her class to get a party catered by Chick-fil-A.

The kids were happy, it was one more thing to add to our list of fun and adventures.

Anyway, we came home and coke Popsicles, yum, can't wait to try those out tomorrow.  The idea is that will taste similar to the Coke slushie you can get at McDonalds or Target.  But this Coke came out the bottle, so I am not completely sure my plan is full proof!

We shall see though.

Pics of the Coke Popsicles to come tomorrow!

So Proud!

This morning Ben and I woke up at 450AM, yep you read that correctly! 450AM.  I know, we got up before the sun came up!! Who knew that was even possible???

So this is what Ben looks like at 545AM when we are waiting on Ms. Gwen to get to school to open the doors!

Onto the point though.   Ben did so good today!! He copied his name (pics to come) and he matched the letter sounds to the right letters! What a big boy he has become in a few short years.  I am so proud of him!

Plus he stayed up all day today, without a nap and did not have a single meltdown! What a trooper! He is growing up to be a fine young man!

I am such a proud mommy today! I cannot wait for him to start Pre K and show his teachers how much he already knows!

Another Day......spent cleaning house

Ben in my boots!
This picture is what Ben was up to while I was cooking breakfast, which sparked another round of "pick up your toys!"

Sometimes, I feel like all I do is clean house and say "pick up your toys."
To which I usually hear, "It's too hard mommy.  I need help."

Yes, that's normally how the conversion goes and somehow I end up picking up 90% of the toys while he ends up picking up the remaining 10%.

So yesterday, I decided to use his upcoming birthday and Christmas to my advantage.  We cleaned out toys.  We made four piles.  One to keep, one to put in storage, one to donate and one for trash.  I can say, we no longer own any McDonald's toys and I am so excited about it! I hate McDonald's toys with a passion.  Why you ask?  Because children should not get toys for eating, eating is a need in life, not a reward situation.  And because I step on at least 1 McDonald's toy a day.  Which always leaves me looking for the trash can.

He decided to give away a hand full of toys, and put a handful in storage.  But his room looks so much better now.  There are still toys that were put away that he has not earned back yet, but we are getting there.  In the meantime, he is no longer allowed to yell at me that he cannot clean up his toys on his own.  Because if he can make the mess, then he can certainly find the time to clean it up.

I do love organization and getting things out of my house! It makes it feel cleaner and my days lighter!

In the meantime, Derrick brought home dinner and it was my fave, chinese food! So, now I have left overs to eat tonight for dinner!! HOORAY!! And Ben and Derrick went to the store, they ended up bringing home a another new fish, and of course, tons of grocery items.

Laundry that was getting out of control has been done and I am slowly getting through the rest of the house.  I am much happier with so much out of the house.  I need to post more stuff on Ebay to sell because I want to go on vacation with Ben, which means, I need to save up money! Ebay, here we come.

Also, homework is out of control but I am that much closer to having my degree and getting done with nonsense called college.  Woo! 54 more credits til I am done, I can't believe I am over half way done. It feels so good! So back to homework I get now.  I am so sick of writing papers and such but it never ends.
